The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued an arrest warrant for Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Rtd), Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission over refusal to honour ultimatums to appear before the lawmakers.
Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Rtd), was was initially issued a 48 hours ultimatum to appear before state assembly shortly after he unveiled Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RISIEC, local government election timetable slated for August 9, failure to comply led to the issuance of another 72-hour ultimatum by the Assembly to appear on Monday, March 10, 2025.

The Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, seeks to question Enebeli regarding the annulled local government elections held on October 5, 2024, which was voided by Supreme Court judgement due to irregularities and ordered a fresh poll, now scheduled for August 9, 2025.
Enebeli’s absence at the assembly on Monday, prompted the Assembly to take the unprecedented step of ordering his arrest.
