By Solomon Odeniyi

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. He extended warm congratulations to Christians across the country on the joyous occasion.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged citizens to reflect on the significance of the season, stressing the virtues of sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ, who gave His life for the redemption of humanity. Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the nation.

He also reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to promote sustainable national growth and development. He further encouraged all citizens to extend love and goodwill to their neighbours through acts of kindness and generosity. The minister wished Christians a joyful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
