The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University,UNIZIK Awka, Anambra State, has expelled a 300-level student in the Department of History and International Studies, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for assaulting a lecturer, of the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye.
In a letter containing the official expulsion, dated February 13, 2025 and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, the university stated that the decision followed the recommendation of the Students Disciplinary Committee which found Precious guilty of gross misconduct and a violation of Regulation 4 of the institution’s Students Disciplinary Regulations.
The Acting Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol, Njelita Louis, in a statement issued on February 14, 2025, said those involved in the act were given fair hearing but that the committee found Chiamaka ‘s action as that of gross misconduct adding that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph l.Ichebelu has approved her expulsion from the institution.

“The actors involved were given a fair hearing by the Students Disciplinary Committee. After a thorough review, the act committed by Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious was deemed gross misconduct and a violation of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4” of Students Disciplinary Regulations.
“She is required to vacate the University premises immediately and return all University property in her possession.”
Chiamaka ‘s journey to expulsion reportedly began in an incident, which gained widespread attention after a video surfaced online, reportedly involved Precious attacking the lecturer identified as Dr. Chukwudi Okoye.
The attack followed the interruption of a TikTok video she was recording on campus. The confrontation led to public outrage and calls for disciplinary action.
