In a decisive move against criminal activity, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command conducted a targeted raid on known criminal hideouts in the Yaba area, resulting in the apprehension of 40 suspects.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the command, confirmed the operation in a post on his verified social media handle @benHundeyin. The raid, which occurred at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, saw the RRS operatives collaborating with members of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency to sweep through various black spots in Yaba.
Hundeyin explained that the initiative was prompted by numerous complaints from concerned citizens regarding the brazen activities of criminals in the area, including muggings and robberies of unsuspecting passersby.
Under the direction of RRS Commander Olayinka Egbeyemi and with the approval of State Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade, the operatives embarked on discreet surveillance before executing the arrests.
