The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has admitted that errors were made in the marking of serialised objective questions in the recently released 2025 results.
The examination body revealed the errors on Friday during a briefing with journalists.
This admission is coming amid mounting public criticism following Wednesday’s sudden shutdown of WAEC’s result-checker portal due to what the council described as “technical issues.”

The announcement which was made via its official X handle, @waecnigeria, triggered widespread criticism, as many Nigerians voiced out their grievances over the poor performance recorded in subject like English language in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination WASSCE.
