The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, an umbrella body of nurses and midwives in Nigeria, are set to begin a seven-day warning strike, from Tuesday, July 29, 2025 to press home their demands for better welfare.
NANNM said the warning strike is coming at the expiration of a 15-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government over demands for the review of allowances for health workers.
The association’s 2nd National Vice President, Orolu Sesan, and Deputy General Secretary, Elder Otaru Daniel Shaibu, in a circular, said NANNM has directed all state council leaders to mobilise members for the planned strike if the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare fails to meet the demands.

NANNM said the strike will commence immediately after the ultimatum expires if the government does not address the association’s concerns.
It said state leaders were by the circular instructed to on Monday July 28, convene meetings of relevant organs and mobilize ahead of the industrial action if need be.
