President Bola Tinubu, has joined other well meaning Nigerians in commiserating with Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State over the demise of his wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, who passed on yesterday.
The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said he joined them in mourning the painful and profound loss of the state’s First Lady, who had supported Governor Eno’s administration.
President Tinubu acknowledged that through her ‘Golden Initiative for All,’ she demonstrated her passion for serving the people and residents of Akwa Ibom state with love, honesty, and dedication, leaving a positive impact that will continue to inspire future generations.
Governor of Cross River State
Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, in a statement by his chief press secretary, Gill Nsa, lamented the loss, saying, “the government and citizens of Cross River State stand in solidarity with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, in mourning the loss of his beloved wife, Her Excellency Pastor Patience Umo Eno.”
“In Cross River State, as a sister state, we are profoundly saddened by this news, yet we humbly accept the decree of her Creator.
“On behalf of my spouse, Rev. Eyoanwan, the Government, and the people of Cross River State, we offer our deepest condolences during this period of sorrow and irreplaceable loss. May God be a source of comfort and strength for you and the residents of Akwa Ibom State

The Rivers State governor, Sim Fubara said in a condolence signed by his chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi that the state government “received with sadness the news of the death of your lovely wife, Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno, who transitioned to glory on 26th September, 2024.
“While we lack words to express the loss you bear, our thoughts and prayers are with you. May the good Lord encourage and strengthen you and members of your family at this time of grief.
On his part, the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri said in a statement signed by his chif press secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, said “I share in the grief of my brother-governor of Akwa Ibom State over the very sad news of the passage of his dear wife. Mrs. Eno showed great passion for uplifting the people of Akwa Ibom, particularly the womenfolk, alongside her husband.
“Her untimely death is a big loss to the state as it would create an irreplaceable vacuum. On behalf of the government and people of Bayelsa State, I extend my heartfelt and sincere condolences to Governor Eno and the people of Akwa Ibom.
Lagos state governor, Sanwo-Olu, in a condolence message issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, urged his colleague to take heart and take it in good faith.
Sanwo-Olu said, “Although the Holy scriptures are clear about life and death as one of the most constant human occurrences, it is usually unpleasant when we lose our loved ones when we need them most.
On behalf of his northern colleagues, Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, expressed deep sympathy and commiserated with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State
Yahaya, who described the Akwa Ibom First Lady as a woman of great virtue, a loving mother, and a pillar of strength to her family and the state, in a statement by Director-General Press Affairs, Gombe Government House Ismaila Misilli, on behalf of the 19 Northern Governors, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the government and the people of Akwa Ibom State during this period of immense grief.
Nigeria First Lady, Remi Tinubu, described the loss as “a deeply painful one.”
In a statement she signed, said the deceased’s kindness, humility, and dedication to her people will continue to linger.
The late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, died on Thursday, September 26 after a brief illness in the hospital, in the presence of her family, at the age of 57.
The Akwa Ibom State’s Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, in a release on Friday, said the state’s First Lady died following an undisclosed illness.
Ememobong’s statement, tagged “Unexpected Sunset”, read: “It is with heavy hearts that we Akwa Ibom Government announce the passing of the wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno, following an illness.
“She passed away peacefully at the hospital, on 26th September, 2024, in the presence of her family.
“The family submits to the will of the Almighty and asks for the prayers and support of kind-hearted individuals during this difficult time.
