Tinubu Appoints New Chairmen For NWDC, SEDC

As part of his commitment to regional development, President Bola Tinubu, has submitted a new list of nominees for the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission, NWDC, and that of the South East Development Commission, SEDC, to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

 

The nominees for NWDC list includes, Alhaji Lawal Samai’la Abdullahi as the new chairman, replacing Ambassador Haruna Ginsau.

While Senator Tijani Yahaya Kaura replaced Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq, Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman took that of Yahaya Aminu Abdulhadi.

Meanwhile, Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji remained as the managing director and Chief Executive Officer of the NWDC.

The president, in compliance with the Senate’s amendments to the NWDC establishment act, which require representation from all six geopolitical zones, he added new nominees, namely, Chukwu Chijioke, Ahmed Mohammed, Engr. Ahmed Rufai Timasaniyu, Macdonalds Michael Uyi, Yemi Ola, and Hon. Babatunde Dada.

Tinubu, in a statement, emphasized his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth and balanced regional development of the country.

He tasked the nominees to bring their wealth of knowledge and experience to bear at the commissions.

The President, similarly nominated Hon. Emeka Atuma as chairman of the South East Development Commission and Hon. Mark C. Okoye as managing director and chief executive officer, pending Senate confirmation.

Other board members include Barr. Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Hon. Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Adama Ali Kumo.

Also nominated for position in SEDC board are Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima and Chief Mrs. Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma, while Executive roles were assigned to Prince Obinna Obiekweihe, for Projects, Senator Anthony O. Agbo Finance and Administration, and Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja Corporate Services.

The nominees await Senate screening and confirmation as the consideration demands.
