Technology giant, Microsoft, Wednesday, announced a move to invest $1 million. (approximately ₦1.6 billion) investment in the Nigerian economy over the next two years for the advancement of artificial intelligence, AI.
Microsoft Country Manager, Nigeria and Ghana, Ola Williams, made the announcement at the AI Nigeria Tour conference and exhibition in Lagos.
Williams, who was joined by the President, Microsoft Africa, Lilian Bernard, said it has become imperative to ensure that Nigeria becomes a major hub for AI in Africa.

She said the investment would help Nigeria to build a sustainable system that would guarantee the effectiveness of the technology sector and the economy.
She said, about one million Nigerians will be trained to become self efficient in AI and other emerging technologies.
Williams, dispelled the fears that AI would would take away peoples’ jobs, said instead that the technology will help in creating new jobs globally, with over 70 million new jobs created in Nigeria.
