Hunger Protest: Deji Adeyanju condemns Hoisting of Russian Flags

As the #endbadgovernace protest enters day five, one of the organizers and human rights lawyer.Deji Adeyanju has strongly condemned the actions of some individuals who raised Russian flags and called for a military coup.

Adeyanju who described their actions as treason, called on security agencies to arrest those involved.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police Force has taken action, arresting 31 persons for hoisting the Russian flag on Monday.

According to Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, 30 persons were arrested in Kaduna for producing and distributing Russian flags and calling for anarchy, while one person was arrested in Kano for recruiting individuals to distribute the flags.

Reacting to the development, Adeyanju said: “It is treason to be raising Russia flag and calling for military coup, that is not protest but treason.

His condemnation of the treasonous acts comes as the protests against bad governance continue across the country.

The protests have been marked by widespread discontent and frustration with the government’s policies, which have significantly impacted citizens’ lives.

The government’s response through president Tinubu broadcast has been inadequate so also is relying on palliatives instead of long-term solutions. This approach has been criticized by many, who have urged the government to heed the concerns of the people and address the root causes of the protests.

The protests have resulted in loss of life and property in several states.
