The secretary of the Rivers state branch of the Nigerian Union of pensioners, Dr Joseph Agbo, has disassociated the union from any form of purported Protest over pending gratuity in the state..
Agbo, in an interview with journalists said the union does not have any intention to protest as the state sole Administrator Ibok Ete Ibas has already taking care of the pensioners needs and have granted them audience to discuss and iron out pressing issues affecting Retirees in the state.
He said after their meeting months back, the Sole Administrator has graciously approved the payment of Thirty Two Thousand naira minimum pension for all categories of pensioners which elected Governors have failed to do over the years.

He said by that singular actions, Pensioners who were hitherto earning as low as Eight thousand naira monthly will now earn as much as Thirty Two thousand naira like their counter parts in other states.
The state pensioners scribe, recalled that the Pensioners have been begging government to implement consequential adjustments to meet with the current economic Realities.
Agbo also commended the Rivers State Sole Administrator for also increasing the pension Gratuity from 2 Billion Naira to 2.6 Billion Naira monthly Gratuity for the state Pensioners.
