At last the Federal Government has commenced payment of the N77,000 new monthly allowance to members of the National Youth Service Corps.
This is coming after the promise made by the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, that the new monthly allowance will be implemented starting in March 2025.
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has assured corpers that the backlog of the new monthly allowance will also be paid
Several corps members who have started receiving alerts of the new allowance on Wednesday, expressed a sigh of relief.

An NYSC member in Lagos, expressed joy over the increase, saying, “I just received alert, checked my account balance, and I saw N77,000 credited from the Federal Government.
Many others have gone on-line to their various social media accounts to acknowledge the receipt the N77, 000 allowance.
The Federal Government had in September 2024 announced a new allowance for NYSC members in line with the new national minimum wage. (Amendment) Act 2024 much to the excitement of the participants of the youth scheme.
The implementation however suffered several setbacks despite government repeated assurances.
