The House of Representatives , Thursday resolved to cut their salaries by 50% for six months, generating N648 million to support food sufficiency efforts and address the soaring cost of food across Nigeria.
This decision accompanies a plea from the lawmakers for Nigerians to remain patient with President Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as it tackles the nation’s challenges and hardships.
Additionally, the House directed its Committees on Appropriation, Humanitarian Affairs, Finance, and Budget to ensure compliance with this resolution.
These measures were adopted following a motion presented by Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka (APC- Ogun State) during a plenary session in Abuja.
