The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Incumbent Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the Ondo State governorship election held on Saturday.
The Returning officer, Prof Olayemi Akinwunmi, announced the results at INEC’s State Headquarters in Akure on Sunday.
Aiyedatiwa defeated his closest rival, Mr Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), securing 366,781 votes to Ajayi’s 117,845. The APC clinched victory in all 18 local government areas of the state.
The Labour Party (LP) and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) polled 1,162 and 2,692 votes, respectively.

The Returning officer for the election, professor Olayemi Akinwumi declared “that Lucky Aiyedatiwa having scored the highest number of lawful votes is hereby declared winner of the election and is returned elected”
Ayiedatiwa won by a landslide, defeating his contenders in all eighteen local government area by a significant margin.
The peoples democratic party PDP says the out come of the election is not the reflection of the will of the people but a result achieved by massive voter inducement
But the All Progressives ongress, APC, maintained that the election was won, fair and square dismissing allegations of vote buying manipulation by the opposition party.
